Six Protein Sources – Real Raw Dog Food
Variety is the spice of life, and dogs love it too! That’s why the Raw 4 Paws dog food range features six unique recipes; using only one animal protein per variety with a minimum of 83% raw meat.
BEEF
Beef is a highly nutritious red meat protein, providing essential amino acids like creatine for muscle health, taurine for eye and heart function, and glutathione as a powerful antioxidant. It’s also rich in minerals such as iron, zinc, phosphorus, and selenium, along with vitamins B3, B6, and B12. These all contribute to red blood cell formation, brain and heart health, and the proper functioning of the nervous system. The fat in our grass-feed beef, particularly conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), is beneficial for energy, a shiny coat, healthy skin, while also supporting overall health and immune function.
The human-grade beef and organ meat used in this raw dog food single protein recipe comes from Australian grass-fed cattle.
CHICKEN
Chicken is a highly digestible protein, abundant in amino acids like tryptophan and threonine, crucial for health and energy production. It is a good source of vitamins K, B3, B5, B1, B2, B6, and B12, along with zinc, potassium, copper, glucosamine, and calcium. Rich in omega-6 fatty acids, chicken meat promotes a healthy coat and skin.
The chicken meat and chicken organs used in our raw dog food recipe is human-grade quality, Australian and comes from RSPCA approved facilities.
LAMB
Lamb is a nutrient-dense red meat option packed with essential amino acids vital for growth and muscle repair. It contains threonine for energy and creatine, as well as taurine for eye and heart health, and glutathione as a potent antioxidant. Lamb is also rich in vital minerals like iron, zinc, phosphorus, and selenium, along with vitamins B3, B6, and B12—all of which contribute to red blood cell formation, brain and heart health, and the optimal functioning of the nervous system. The fat found in lamb, particularly CLA, supports energy levels, a shiny coat, and skin health, while also bolstering the immune system.
The human-grade lamb meat and organ meat used in this single protein Raw 4 Paws dog food recipe comes from Australian pasture raised animals.
KANGAROO
Kangaroo is a wild-caught game meat and organic by nature, that provides a lean protein source with less than 2% fat, perfect for supporting muscle mass and weight control. It’s rich in iron for cell function and oxygen transport, vitamin B for nervous system support, normal metabolism functions, and zinc for immune health. Kangaroo also offers omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) for heart health.
As a low cross-reactivity protein, dogs allergic to other meats are less likely to react to it. Cross-reactivity occurs when the immune system mistakenly identifies proteins from different sources, such as two or more kinds of meats mixed, leading to allergic responses or intolerances.
The human-grade kangaroo meat we choose for this raw dog food single protein recipe comes from microchipped and health inspected animals.
TURKEY
Turkey is an excellent lean white meat protein rich in amino acids like tryptophan, threonine, and lysine which helps with harmonising proteins in the body. It surpasses beef and lamb in vitamins K, B3, B5, B6, and B12, providing natural glucosamine and calcium. Turkey is a complete protein containing all nine essential amino acids that a dog cannot produce on its own, but need for tissue building and repair.
The Australian turkey meat and organ meat in this raw dog food single protein recipe comes from RSPCA approved facilities and is human-grade quality.
GOAT
Goat, a lean red meat option, is a novel protein—meaning it has a lower likelihood of causing allergies. It contains essential amino acids such as threonine, methionine, and arginine for healthy growth, muscle repair, heart function, skin and coat health. Goat meat also offers important vitamins B2 and B12 along with iron, zinc, and potassium.
The human-grade goat meat and organ meat used in the Raw 4 Paws dog food single protein recipe comes from Australian grass-fed and inspected goats.
Protein Specifics

Organ Meats
Organ meats in Raw 4 Paws, i.e. heart, kidney and, where included, liver, are nutritious and typically lean sources of protein.
They are rich in important amino acids, vitamin A, vitamins B2, B6, B7, B12, D, E, K, iron, zinc, copper, selenium, taurine, and antioxidants. Taurine plays a crucial role in regulating calcium levels in the body and supports digestive health as well as eye and heart function.
All organ meats used in the Raw 4 Paws recipes come from the same protein source as the meat, maintaining the integrity of a truly single protein diet.

Soft Ground Bones
We incorporate soft ground bones in our poultry recipes, chicken and turkey, as these are easily digestible, even for small dogs. These bones originate from the same animal as the meat, ensuring every one of our raw dog food recipes is a genuine single protein diet.
Cartilage
Cartilage is abundant in essential nutrients such as calcium, glucosamine, collagen, and chondroitin, as well as omega-3 fatty acids. These components are vital for joint health and mobility, while also reducing inflammation and promoting digestion and gut health. In Raw 4 Paws single protein recipes, cartilage and soft ground bones derive from the same protein source as the meat for a truly single protein diet.

Calcium
To balance our ruminant recipes (red meat), we add natural calcium in a highly absorbable powdered form instead of ground bones. Due to their hardness these bones may splinter during mincing posing risks of injury or blockages in a dog’s digestive system. Furthermore, we never use bone meals from external sources, as it is not possible to guarantee they come from a single animal protein source.
